Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)

Black Christmas (Part 4)

For the fourth and final week of our Black Christmas series, we're joined by writer and friend of the show DJ Wilson to discuss the film that finally put Shane Black in the director's chair, KISS KISS BANG BANG!

After the failure of THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, Black was essentially blacklisted from Hollywood, unable to get a job and went into self-isolation. When he came back, nearly a decade later, he was determined that this time, he'd be the one calling the shots, making sure that his story made it to the screen exactly as he'd envisioned it.

This is the story of how that eventually happened, how Black's old friend Joel Silver helped him out, and how Black's film helped to resurrect the career of Robert Downey Jr (directly leading to his role in a little superhero movie you may have heard of).
